Hermann Burger

Hermann Burger (1942–1989) was a Swiss author, publicist, feuilleton editor and lecturer in modern German literature. Following the publication of a volume of poetry and short stories, he achieved international recognition with his 1976 novel “Schilten.” Burger earned his doctorate with a study of Paul Celan and completed his habilitation with a study of contemporary Swiss literature. His awards included the Swiss Schiller Foundation Prize, the C. F. Meyer Prize, the Hölderlin Prize and the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize.
