Herbert Kranz

Herbert Kranz (1891–1973) was a German writer, journalist, and dramaturge. He taught German at the Pädagogische Akademie in Halle an der Saale, but was dismissed by the Nazi authorities in 1933 because of his liberal views and subsequently barred from working. As a writer of children’s and young-adult books, he achieved success in the 1930s with works including “Lampes Wochenende” (1930) and “Häschen klein ging allein” (1935). After 1950, his ten-volume adventure series “Ubique Terrarum” was published. His body of work comprised more than 150 publications.
