Herbert Clyde Lewis

Herbert Clyde Lewis (1909–1950) was born in Brooklyn, New York, as the second son of Russian-Jewish immigrants. He worked as a sports reporter in Newark, a correspondent in Shanghai, and a screenwriter in Hollywood. He also wrote for the Mirror and Time magazine in New York. Lewis authored four novels. His debut novel, *Gentleman Overboard*, was published in 1937.
