Henri Bergson (1859–1941) was a French philosopher. After studying at the École Normale Supérieure, he initially worked as a secondary-school teacher while pursuing his academic interests. He became a professor at the Collège de France in 1900 and was elected to the Académie française in 1914. His major works include “Time and Free Will” (1889), “Matter and Memory” (1896), and “Creative Evolution” (1907). Bergson was a leading figure in the philosophy of life and wrote extensively on time, consciousness, intuition, and creativity. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1927.
