Helwig Arenz (born 1981) grew up in Fürth, Germany. After studying the humanities in Erlangen, he switched to acting studies in Linz, graduating in 2006. He subsequently performed at theatres in cities including Hamburg, Wilhelmshaven, Memmingen and Hof. From 2013 onward, Arenz worked as a freelance actor and author, as well as a director. In 2013, he won the audience award of the Franconian Crime Prize for his short crime story “Tom und Tierchen.” His debut novel, “Der böse Nik,” was published by ars vivendi in 2014, followed by “Nachts die Schatten” in 2016.
