Helga Pollak-Kinsky

Helga Pollak-Kinsky, born in Vienna in 1930, was a Holocaust survivor and eyewitness. While imprisoned in the Theresienstadt ghetto, she kept a diary in 1943 and 1944; she later survived Auschwitz. She became known through the publication and presentation of her records, as well as through Zuzana Justman’s documentaries “Terezin Diary” and “Voices of the Children.” Together with her friend Anna Hanusová, she initiated a commemorative project dedicated to the “Girls of Room 28” and the children of Theresienstadt. In 2013 she received the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, and in 2016 the Golden Medal of Merit of the Province of Vienna.
