Hannelore Brenner

Hannelore Brenner (born 1951 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany) studied philosophy, German literature and theatre studies in Tübingen and Berlin. She worked for the writer and Shakespeare translator Hans Rothe and for the American author Peter Wyden, and produced radio features about, among others, Rothe and Wyden. Research for a feature on “Brundibár and the Children of Theresienstadt” led to encounters with survivors of the Theresienstadt ghetto and to the development of her “Room 28” remembrance project. In 2004, she published the book “The Girls of Room 28” and created the accompanying exhibition. She has also written theatre and musical theatre works and compendia for the Room 28 educational project. In 2014, she founded Edition Room 28 and published, among other works, Helga Pollak-Kinsky’s Theresienstadt diary.
