Helen Thein studied gender studies, Jewish studies and library science. From 2021, she headed the library of the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History in Potsdam. She also worked as a cultural worker and writer. Thein co-edited books by and about Walter Boehlich and Ronald M. Schernikau.
