Heinz Feldmann, born in 1935, studied English, German and philosophy in Münster and York. From 1967 to 2000, he worked at the University of Münster as a research assistant, editor and senior secondary-school teacher in higher education. He published monographs and essays on Harold Pinter, John Wain and William Wycherley. In the 1980s, he began translating Anthony Powell’s novel sequence *A Dance to the Music of Time*, working in close contact with the author.
