Hans Leyendecker was born in 1949. He wrote for the news magazine Der Spiegel for nearly two decades and worked as a senior political editor at the Süddeutsche Zeitung. He became particularly known for his investigative reporting on corruption and political scandals in Germany, including the Flick, Lambsdorff, Späth, Steffi Graf, Schreiber and Kohl affairs.
