Hans-Georg Noack (1926–2005) was a German author, translator and publishing director. After abandoning his teacher-training studies, he was drafted into the German armed forces and worked as a prisoner of war for the YMCA in Brussels from 1944 to 1947. He subsequently worked as an interpreter and private secretary before founding a concert and touring agency; his first books for young readers were written during this period. From 1959, Noack worked as an author and translator. He headed the Herrmann-Schaffstein publishing house from 1973 and was publishing director at Arena Verlag from 1980 to 1992. His books addressed contemporary historical, political and social issues for young readers.
