Hans-Dieter Rutsch

Born in 1954, Hans-Dieter Rutsch worked as a dramaturge, writer and director at the DEFA Studio for Documentary Films in Babelsberg. In 1995, he founded Havel-Film Babelsberg. He made more than fifty documentaries, features and reports, focusing primarily on the contemporary history of East Germany and Eastern Europe. In 2012, he published the book “Die letzten Deutschen. Schicksale aus Schlesien und Ostpreußen” (The Last Germans: Fates from Silesia and East Prussia).
