Hans Baluschek

Hans Baluschek (1870–1935) was a German painter, graphic artist, and writer. He belonged to the Berlin Secession and was a member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund and the Association of German Illustrators. From 1920 onward, he was an active member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). From 1929 until early 1933, he directed the Große Berliner Kunstausstellung, Berlin’s major art exhibition. Baluschek was born in Breslau on 9 May 1870 and died in Berlin on 28 September 1935.
