Hanns Zischler (born 1947) worked as an actor, writer, publicist, photographer, translator, essayist and radio-play speaker. He appeared in numerous German and international film productions, including Wim Wenders’s “The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick” and Steven Spielberg’s “Munich.” He also became known for his study “Kafka Goes to the Movies” (1996), which was translated into several languages and reissued in 2017. His other publications include “Der Schmetterlingskoffer” (2010, with Hanna Zeckau), “Berlin ist zu groß für Berlin” (2013) and the novel “Der zerrissene Brief” (2020). Zischler received the Heinrich Mann Prize for essays in 2009 and the German Audiobook Award in 2010.
