H G Adler

H. G. Adler (1910–1988) was a German-language writer, novelist, poet, historian, and sociologist from Prague. During the Second World War, he was interned for several years in Nazi concentration camps, including Theresienstadt. In 1947, he went into exile in Britain. His best-known works include the novels *Eine Reise*, *Panorama*, and *Die unsichtbare Wand*, as well as the studies *Theresienstadt 1941–1945*, *Die verheimlichte Wahrheit*, and *Der verwaltete Mensch*. From 1973 to 1985, Adler served as president of the PEN Centre of German-speaking Authors Abroad. Among other honors, he received the Leo Baeck Prize and the Buber-Rosenzweig Medal.
