Grete Hartwig-Manschinger (1899–1971) was an Austrian author, cabaret performer, and singing teacher. Born in Vienna, she was the daughter of freethinker Theodor Hartwig and the sister of writer Mela Hartwig. Together with her husband, composer Kurt Manschinger, she wrote poems, songs, sketches, and opera librettos. After Austria’s annexation by Nazi Germany in 1938, the couple fled to Great Britain and emigrated to the United States in 1940. Her novel *Rendezvous in Manhattan* was published in Vienna in 1948. Hartwig-Manschinger died in Florida in 1971.
