Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa

Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa (1896–1957) was an Italian writer. Born in Palermo, he died in Rome. In addition to short stories, he wrote his only novel, *The Leopard*, within a few months. Published in 1958, a year after his death, the novel became an international success. Lampedusa held the titles Duke of Palma and Prince of Lampedusa.
