Giuseppe Fava (1925–1984) was an Italian novelist, playwright and journalist. Born in Palazzolo in the province of Syracuse, he addressed the Mafia-dominated society of Sicily in his work. In 1975 he published the novel “Ehrenwerte Leute,” which was adapted for film by Luigi Zampa under the title “Werkzeug der Mächtigen.” Fava founded a theatre in Catania, where his anti-Mafia play “L’ultima violenza” was performed. He was murdered outside the theatre on 5 January 1984.
