Gilbert Keith Chesterton

Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936) was an English writer, journalist, literary critic and illustrator. He trained at London’s Slade School of Art and initially worked as a cartoonist and journalist before becoming a freelance writer around 1900. His extensive body of work includes novels, short stories, poetry, plays and essays. He is best known for The Man Who Was Thursday and the stories featuring the Catholic priest and detective Father Brown. His writing frequently addressed religious, political and social questions. In 1922, Chesterton converted to Roman Catholicism.
