George Steinmetz

George Steinmetz, born in 1957, is an American photographer. He studied geophysics at Stanford University and taught himself photography. He became known particularly for his aerial photography projects, including work for National Geographic, The New York Times, and the National Science Foundation. His photojournalism has received several awards. His books include „Wüsten von oben“ (2013) and „Über New York“ (2015).
