George R. R. Martin

George Raymond Richard Martin was born in New Jersey in 1948. He became known as the author of the fantasy saga A Song of Ice and Fire, which was adapted as the television series Game of Thrones. His other works include Dying of the Light, Fevre Dream, The Armageddon Rag, The Dying of the Light, Windhaven (with Lisa Tuttle), and Fire & Blood. As a screenwriter and producer, he worked on projects including The Twilight Zone and Beauty and the Beast. His honors include six Hugo Awards, two Nebula Awards, and three World Fantasy Awards, including awards for lifetime achievement and special contributions to fantasy.
