Georg Schwedt

Georg Schwedt (born 1943) is a German chemist and nonfiction author. He studied chemistry in Braunschweig, Gießen and Göttingen, received his doctorate from the University of Hannover, and completed his habilitation in analytical chemistry at the University of Siegen in 1978. He taught analytical chemistry in Siegen and Göttingen and food chemistry at the University of Stuttgart. From 1987 until his retirement in 2006, he was professor of inorganic and analytical chemistry at Clausthal University of Technology. Schwedt has written numerous specialist and nonfiction books, particularly on the history of chemistry and food chemistry, as well as on regional and scientific history. In 2010, he received the Society of German Chemists’ award for writers and journalists.
