Georg Fischer SJ

Georg Fischer SJ, born in Feldkirch in 1954, entered the Society of Jesus in 1972. He studied philosophy and theology in Munich, Innsbruck, and Rome, and taught in various countries and continents from 1985 onward. In 1995, he became a professor of Old Testament at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Innsbruck. His research has focused on the Torah, especially Genesis and Exodus, the prophetic books with particular emphasis on Jeremiah, and questions of biblical theology, hermeneutics, and methodology. His works include Wege in die Bibel, Das Buch Exodus, and Der Jakobsweg der Bibel.
