Gainax

Gainax is a Japanese animation studio founded in December 1984 by former students from Osaka. The founders had met through producing amateur animated films for science-fiction conventions. Among the studio’s early productions were “Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise,” “Gunbuster,” and “Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water.” In 1989, Gainax also began developing computer games, including “Princess Maker.” The studio gained international recognition especially through the television series “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” which premiered in 1995.
