Friedmar Apel

Friedmar Apel (1948–2018) was a German scholar of German literature and a writer. He taught literature and comparative literature at Bielefeld University. He also co-edited the Goethe edition “Sämtliche Werke, Briefe, Tagebücher und Gespräche” and regularly wrote book reviews for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. His literary debut, “Das Buch Fritze,” was published in 2003, followed by “Nanettes Gedächtnis” in 2009. Apel died in Bielefeld on October 21, 2018.
