Friedemann Beyer worked as a television editor in Munich and Cologne and served as managing director of the F. W. Murnau Foundation in Wiesbaden from 2001 to 2007. There, he was responsible for restorations and DVD releases of German film classics. As a film historian, he wrote biographies of figures including Peter Lorre, Karlheinz Böhm and Sybille Schmitz. His publications include “Frauen für Deutschland – Filmidole im Dritten Reich” (2012), “Der Fall Selpin – Chronik einer Denunziation” (2011) and, with Gert Koshofer and Michael Krüger, “Ufa in Farbe” (2010). He also curated DVD editions of historical films and film retrospectives, including the UFA Film Nights in Berlin.
