Frederick Forsyth

Frederick Forsyth was born in 1938 in Ashford, Kent. At the age of 19, he became one of the youngest pilots in the Royal Air Force. After leaving the RAF, he worked as a journalist and foreign correspondent, including for the Eastern Daily Press and Reuters, and reported from several European countries. From 1965, he worked as a television reporter for the BBC, covering crisis and war zones as well. His journalistic experiences informed his fiction. His debut novel, *The Day of the Jackal*, brought him international recognition.
