Franz Mon

Franz Mon (1926–2022) was a German writer and artist. After studying German, history, and philosophy, he worked from 1956 as an editor at an educational publishing house and taught graphic design in Kassel, Offenbach, and Karlsruhe until 2000. He became known especially for experimental poetry, radio plays, essays, and collages. His major works include the poetry collections »artikulationen« (1959), »herzzero« (1967), »Nach Omega undsoweiter« (1992), and »Freiflug für Fangfragen« (2004). He received the Goethe Plaque of the City of Frankfurt in 2003 and the Petrarca Prize in 2014. His later publications include »Zuflucht bei Fliegen« (2013) and »Sprache lebenslänglich. Gesammelte Essays« (2016).
