Francesca Segal, born in London in 1980, studied at Oxford and Harvard. She worked as a journalist and critic, contributing to publications including Granta Magazine, The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph. She wrote a prose column for The Observer for three years and served as a features writer for Tatler Magazine. Her debut novel, Die Arglosen, was published in 2013 and received the Costa First Novel Award and the National Jewish Book Award for Fiction. Segal is the daughter of author Erich Segal.
