Fatin Abbas

Fatin Abbas, born in 1981 in Khartoum, is a Sudanese writer. Her family fled to the United States in 1990 because her father was being persecuted for political reasons, and she grew up in New York City. Abbas studied literature at Cambridge and Harvard, and with Colum McCann. Her essays and reportage appeared in The Nation, Le Monde diplomatique and Die Zeit, while her short fiction was published in Granta and Freeman’s. She taught fiction writing at MIT and Pratt Institute and comparative literature at Bard College Berlin. Her first novel is Ghost Season (Zeit der Geister).
