Ewald Frie

Ewald Frie (born 1962) is a historian. His academic career includes a professorship in modern history at the University of Tübingen, where he led a global history research project. From 2011 to 2016, he was spokesperson for the Collaborative Research Centre “Threatened Orders.” Frie has published extensively on German, European, and Australian history, as well as the historical young-adult book *Das Schokoladenproblem* (2009) and *Die Geschichte der Welt* (2019). He was born the ninth of eleven children in a Catholic farming family in the Münsterland region of Germany.
