Eugen Kogon

Eugen Kogon (1903–1987) was a German journalist, writer, and political thinker. An opponent of the Nazi regime, he was imprisoned for several years in Buchenwald concentration camp. After his liberation, he resumed his journalistic work and published the widely regarded study *The SS State* (*Der SS-Staat*). He later served as the head and presenter of the ARD political magazine *Panorama*. Kogon was also active in European politics and advocated the idea of a European republic. He died in Königstein im Taunus in 1987.
