Ernst Engelberg

Ernst Engelberg (1909–2010) was a German historian. During his lifetime, he experienced the German Empire, the Weimar Republic, the Nazi dictatorship, East Germany, West Germany, and reunified Germany. He lived in exile in Switzerland and Turkey as a result of Nazi persecution. He is particularly known for his multi-volume biography of Otto von Bismarck; its first volume was published simultaneously in East and West Germany in 1985.
