Erik Olin Wright

Erik Olin Wright (1947–2019) was a sociologist and professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. A Marxist sociologist and class theorist, he was a founding member of the movement known as Analytical Marxism. He was particularly known for his work on class theory and for the research project “Envisioning Real Utopias,” which culminated in his book *Envisioning Real Utopias*. Wright served as president of the American Sociological Association. His work received numerous honors and was translated into many languages.
