Erich Ohser

Erich Ohser studied at the State Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Production in Leipzig. He later worked for the Neue Leipziger Zeitung, where he became friends with Erich Knauf and Erich Kästner. He became known as a book illustrator and caricaturist. From 1934, he published the comic series “Father and Son” under the pseudonym e. o. plauen; it appeared weekly in the Berliner Illustrierte Zeitung for three years. Under the Nazi regime, he could no longer work as a political cartoonist. In 1944, Ohser and Erich Knauf were denounced and arrested. Ohser died by suicide before his conviction.
