Enrico Heitzer (born 1977) is a historian. He studied history and political science and earned his doctorate at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam with a study of the “Kampfgruppe gegen Unmenschlichkeit.” His professional experience includes research work at the Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum of the Brandenburg Memorials Foundation. His research focuses on the end of the Second World War and the early Cold War, denazification, and the history of opposition and resistance in the Soviet Occupation Zone and the GDR. His publications include “Die Kampfgruppe gegen Unmenschlichkeit” (2015), “Affäre Walter” (2008), and “Einige greifen der Geschichte in die Speichen” (2007).
