Emmy von Rhoden (1829–1885) was a German writer born in Magdeburg. She published short stories in, among other venues, the “Familienbuch des österreichischen Lloyd” and the Berlin magazine “Victoria.” She is best known for her posthumously published novel “Der Trotzkopf. Eine Pensionsgeschichte für erwachsene Mädchen” (1885), which is regarded as one of the so-called Backfischromane, or novels for adolescent girls, and remained popular across generations.
