Elsa Osorio, born in Buenos Aires in 1952, is an Argentine writer, journalist, lecturer, and screenwriter for film and television. Her notable works include the novels Ritos privados (1982), Reina Mugra (1990), and A veinte años, Luz (1998; English-language title not provided). She received Argentina’s Premio Nacional de Literatura in 1982 for Ritos privados and the Premio Sociedad Argentina de Escritores in 1990 for Reina Mugra. In 1992, her screenplay Ya no hay hombres won an award for best screenplay. In 2001, Osorio received Amnesty International’s literary prize for Mein Name ist Luz, awarded for the first time that year.
