Elke Bauer, born in 1965, studied comparative religious studies, non-European ethnology, Celtic studies (M.A.) and editorial studies. She began her academic career at the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe in Marburg in 2001. Her work there included the picture archive and digital research and information infrastructure; from 2020, she headed the institute’s document collection.
