Eliot Weinberger

Born in New York in 1949, Eliot Weinberger worked as an essayist, editor, political commentator, and translator. He translated works by, among others, Octavio Paz, Vicente Huidobro, and Bei Dao. In 2000, the Mexican government awarded him the Order of the Aztec Eagle, making him the first North American recipient of Mexico’s highest state honor. His books published by Berenberg include the essay collections Das Wesentliche (2008), Orangen!Erdnüsse! (2011), Vogelgeister (2017), Neunzehn Arten Wang Wei zu betrachten (2019), Neulich in Amerika (2020), Die Sterne (2021), and Engel & Heilige (2023).
