Eleanor Catton

Eleanor Catton was born in Canada in 1985 and grew up in New Zealand. She studied English and creative writing and became known as a novelist. Her debut novel, *The Rehearsal*, received several awards. In 2013, she won the Booker Prize for *The Luminaries*, becoming the youngest recipient in the prize’s history. Catton has also written screenplays, adapting *The Luminaries* as a television series and Jane Austen’s *Emma* for film. *Birnam Wood* is her third novel.
