Dr Eleanor Barraclough is a historian, author and broadcaster. She has worked at the universities of Oxford and Durham and writes particularly about the Vikings and Norse history. Her books include *Beyond the Northlands: Viking Voyages and the Old Norse Sagas* (2019) and *Embers of the Hands* (2024), published in German as *Im Schein von Gold und Feuer*. *Embers of the Hands* was named a *Times Best History Book of the Year 2024* and was nominated for the 2025 Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction.
