E.L. Doctorow

E. L. Doctorow was born in 1931 in New York City and grew up in the Bronx. The American writer was best known for novels such as *Ragtime*, *Billy Bathgate*, *The March*, and *Homer & Langley*. Among other honors, he received the PEN/Saul Bellow Award for lifetime achievement.
