Eike Wittrock

Eike Wittrock studied musicology and theatre studies in Berlin. From 2008 to 2011, he held a fellowship at the DFG Research Training Group “Schriftbildlichkeit. Über Materialität, Wahrnehmbarkeit und Operativität von Notationen”. His professional positions include work as a freelance dramaturg and a professorship in dance studies at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. His research addresses, among other subjects, ornament in nineteenth-century ballet, ecstasy in dance, the historiography of European theatre dance, and queer performance history. Together with Jeremy Wade and Meg Stuart, he curated the festival “Politics of Ecstasy” at Hebbel am Ufer.
