Eeva-Liisa Manner (1921–1995) was a Finnish poet, writer, and translator. Born in Helsinki, she made her debut with a poetry collection in 1944. Her notable works include the poetry collection »Das Mädchen auf der Himmelsbrücke« (1951) and »Diese Reise« (1956), regarded as an important work of Finnish modernism. In addition to poetry, Manner wrote plays and short prose. She received numerous awards, including the Finnish State Prize seven times. As a translator, she rendered works by authors including Hermann Hesse, Franz Kafka, Georg Büchner, William Shakespeare, and Lewis Carroll into Finnish.
