Edward Gorey

Edward Gorey (1925–2000) was an author and illustrator from Chicago. He became internationally known for his often whimsical picture stories. Gorey published more than 100 books and illustrated works by, among others, T. S. Eliot, Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll, Bram Stoker, and Virginia Woolf. He also worked as an art director for the publisher Doubleday & Co.
