Walter Moers

Walter Moers (born 1957 in Mönchengladbach) is a German author, comic artist, and illustrator. He first became known for characters such as Captain Bluebear, Little Asshole, and Adolf, the Nazi Sow. He created the fantastic continent of Zamonia, the setting for novels including »The 13½ Lives of Captain Bluebear«, »Rumo and His Miraculous Adventures«, and »The City of Dreaming Books«. Many of his Zamonia books are presented as translations by the fictional writer Hildegunst von Mythenmetz. Moers has received, among other distinctions, the Phantastik Prize of the city of Wetzlar and the Grimme Award.
