Edgar Rai (born 1967) studied musicology and English literature in Marburg and Berlin. He became a freelance writer in 2001. Before and alongside writing, he worked as a screenwriter, basketball coach, choir director, manual laborer and online editor. From 2003 to 2008, he taught creative writing at Freie Universität Berlin. His breakthrough came with the bestseller »Nächsten Sommer« (2010). His other books include »Sonnenwende«, »Wenn nicht, dann jetzt«, »Die Gottespartitur«, »Halbschwergewicht«, »Im Licht der Zeit« and »Ascona«. Together with Hans Rath, he developed the crime series »Bullenbrüder« and co-wrote its screenplays.
