Dunja Hayali

Dunja Hayali (born 1974 in Datteln, Germany) is a German journalist and television presenter whose parents came from Iraq. She studied media and communications at the German Sport University Cologne and subsequently worked, among other roles, as a sports presenter for Deutsche Welle radio. At ZDF, she presented programs including the “heute” news, “heute journal,” “ZDF-Morgenmagazin,” “dunja hayali,” and “ZDF-Sportstudio.” She is the author of the books “Is’ was, Dog?” and “Haymatland. Wie wollen wir zusammenleben?” In 2016, she received the Goldene Kamera award for Best Information; in 2018, she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her work against racism and xenophobia and for her journalistic work.
