Doris Kilias

Doris Kilias (1942–2008) studied Romance languages and Arabic in Berlin and Cairo. After completing her doctorate, she worked as a literary scholar at Humboldt University of Berlin and as an editor for the Arabic-language program of Radio Berlin (GDR). She later worked as a freelance translator from Arabic. Her translations included works by Mohamed Choukri, Naguib Mahfouz, Gamal al-Ghitani, Miral al-Tahawi, Rajaa Alsanea, Baha Taher, and Emily Nasrallah.
